Singer songwriter Grace Potter; Grammy winner and “First Lady of Neo Soul” Erykah Badu; Grammy-winning pianist and composer Chick Corea, with special guest the Joey Alexander Trio; and four-time headliner, Chris Botti are the first four headliners Xerox International Jazz Festival (XRIJF) producers have announced for the event.
The nine-day, 2016 edition of XRIJF will run from June 24 to July 2, and all performances will take place at Eastman Theatre’s Kodak Hall at 8 p.m.
Potter will perform on opening night, Friday, June 24; Badu will perform Saturday, June 25.
The Chick Corea “Trilogy” Trio, along with the Joey Alexander Trio, will perform on Tuesday, June 28. And, Botti will return to XRIJF to perform Thursday, June 30.
“We are very excited to announce these acclaimed artists from various styles of creative improvised music,” John Nugent, producer and artistic director for the festival, stated. “With more headliners, along with our entire club pass series, and free shows lineup still to be announced, we expect our 15th anniversary festival, featuring more than 1,500 musicians, to be far and away our best festival to date.”
Tickets will go on sale Friday, Jan. 29 at 10 a.m., and will be available at rochesterjazz.com, or by phone at (585) 454-2060.
The new 3-day Club Pass and traditional 9-day Club Pass are also on sale at rochesterjazz.com for $154 and $204 respectively, plus service charges.
The complete festival lineup will be announced in March, officials said.
