guidingThe Rochester-Monroe Anti-Poverty Initiative at United Way will hold a public meeting in Penfield, Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Eastside YMCA, 1835 Fairport Nine Mile Point Rd.

RMAPI will reportedly provide an overview of its plans to eradicate poverty by half in the region, within the next 15 years, while engaging residents in the suburbs as part of the process.

The goals of the initiative include developing means for youth and adults to attend conferences, lectures, events, and business expos; creating tax incentives for neighborhood businesses; and partnering “with local agencies, hospitals and other organizations to offer professional development opportunities in the area of social-emotional and behavioral supports.”

In March, RMAPI said it would focus on three neighborhoods as part of its efforts to eradicate poverty in the region.
