“Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015, surrounded by her family,” the Houston family said in a statement. “She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.”
In the six months since Brown had been found not breathing in the bathtub at her Roswell,Georgia home, she had been treated in a hospital, and placed into a medically-induced coma, then transferred to a hospice facility.
Her mother, Whitney Houston, also died in a bathtub three years ago, by accidental drowning in Beverly Hills.
At the time, reports speculated Houston’s death had beendue to a long history of drug and alcohol abuse.
In Brown’s case, her grandmother, Cissy Houston, said she had suffered from “irreversible brain damage,” in April, and the family had been hoping for a miracle.
Then, on June 24, Brown’s aunt, Pat Houston, released a statement saying Brown’s condition had worsened.
“Despite the great medical care at numerous facilities, Bobbi Kristina Brown’s condition has continued to deteriorate,” Houston stated. “As of today, she has been moved into hospice care. We thank everyone for their support, and prayers. She is in God’s hands now.”
In similar fashion as when her mother died, reports have speculated Brown also had problems with drug and alcohol abuse.
Her father, singer Bobby Brown, released the following statement regarding his daughter’s passing, July 27:
“Krissy was, and is, an angel. I am completely numb at this time. My family must find a way to live with her in spirit, and honor her memory. Our loss is unimaginable. We thank everyone for the prayers for Krissy, and our family, as we mourn my baby girl.”
Bobbi Kristina had been born to Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown in 1993, following the couple’s marriage in 1992.
