City announces New St. Patrick’s Day Parade Route

By Staff

new routeThe city has announced a new, temporary downtown parade route for the 2015 St. Patrick’s Day, Memorial Day, and Labor Day parades, which will now begin at East Ave. and Scio St., instead of East Ave. and Alexander St., and end at Main St. and Plymouth Ave., according to a press release.

Officials said the city made the route changes due to a closure from Monroe Ave. to Main St., as a result of the Inner Loop Construction Project.

In addition, according to officials, the parade route will be closed to traffic from approximately 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and the group of streets that surround the parade’s starting point, which marchers will use to get into formation before step-off time, will be closed from about 11 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place Saturday, March 14 at 12:30 p.m..

Visit rochesterparade.com, or call the city’s Office of Special Events at (585) 428-6690, to march in the parade, or for additional information regarding the event.
