The city has declared a Cool Sweep for Tuesday, July 5, and a heat emergency for Wednesday, July 6, which will provide opportunities for residents to get relief from the heat with cooling sprays from fire hydrants, and extended hours at city swimming sites, and spray parks.
A Cool Sweep operation is triggered when the forecast calls for temperatures to reach, or exceed, 85 degrees.
During Cool Sweep, residents can get relief with cooling sprays at fire hydrants, and take advantage of extended hours at city pools, Durand Eastman Beach, and city spray parks.
