City officials said Cortese was on duty at the center at the time of his arrest.
According to the FBI, Cortese allegedly has been charged with attempting to coerce a minor into sexually explicit conduct.
In addition, FBI officials said Cortese sent sexually explicit chat messages, as well as pornographic photographs of nude children, to the 12-year-old girl in 2014.
“As a union member, the employee in question is covered by a collective bargaining agreement,” a city press release stated. “Given this fact, any potential disciplinary action, or dismissal, will need to follow the protocols set forth under the provisions of the union contract. The City of Rochester Department of Human Resource Management will actively monitor this case as it continues to unfold, and will pursue possible discipline, or other appropriate action, as dictated by the terms of the fore-mentioned collective bargaining agreement.”
City officials said they will have no further comment on the matter, and referred to Cortese only as the “employee” who was arrested, in the press release.
