The council will be accepting applications for state funds until July 31, which it will then forward to the state. The group will also reportedly be compiling its annual list of economic development projects that are priorities, which the state must receive by Sept. 21.
Empire State Development officials have reportedly requested that the council look for related businesses which are near each other, and that are spurring economic growth in the area, in order to identify investments which will help the industry grow.
The council must also create an application for the Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Upstate Revitalization Initiative, a $1.5 billion Upstate New York Economic Revitalization Competition, in which seven regions in Upstate New York will compete for a total of three, $500 million grants.
The application will be due October 5.
