Foodlink, the regional food hub and Feeding America food bank that serves a 10-county region in western and central New York, has launched the final phase of its fundraising campaign for a new $4.9 million Community Kitchen.
Currently, the organization has raised more than 85 percent of the necessary funds for the project, and, now, has asked for the public’s support to raise the final $600,000.
“The new kitchen will help us to reduce waste, optimize our physical space and staffing, and build a stronger culture,” Foodlink’s executive director, Julia Tedesco, stated in a letter to community members and supporters. “But, more importantly, it will dramatically expand Foodlink’s capacity to invest in this region, and provide healthy food to those who need it the most.”
According to Foodlink, individuals interested in donating to the project may donate online, or make checks payable to Foodlink, and mail them directly to the organization.
The construction of the group’s new 28-000-square-foot commercial kitchen is slated to be completed this fall.
