In the Community: From Veterans Outreach Center
Veterans Outreach Center (VOC) is hosting its annual Pound the Ground 5K Run/Walk on August 24. Participants can register for the in-person event at Mendon Ponds Park or run virtually.
“This is such a fun event, and we look forward to it every year,” Veterans Outreach Center Executive Director and U.S. Army Veteran Laura Stradley said. “Whether in-person or virtually, everyone comes together to rally around veterans and show their support. This event raises funds for critically needed services for local veterans at VOC, and we are immensely grateful to everyone who participates in this fun, family friendly event.”
The in-person event kicks off August 24 at 6:00 p.m. at Mendon Ponds Park, 95 Douglas Rd., Honeoye Falls, NY 14472. Those participating in the virtual event can submit their results online starting August 17 through August 31.
Participants can run individually or as a team. Active Duty military, reservists and veterans are invited to compete for the Golden Boot. The military branch with the fastest time will be recognized with an engraved plaque. All funds raised will go towards critical services for local veterans.
