Peaceful Solutions Inc. has recently sponsored a billboard featuring the message “Fatherhood Begins in the Womb” in support of the Rochester Black Personhood Initiative, located on Interstate 490 East near the Winton Road exit.
“We are asking fathers to step up in declaring and living the ‘Fatherhood Begins in the Womb’ lifestyle,” the initiative said in a press release. “We want to celebrate and encourage those men who are fathers to their children, their step-children, and their adoptive children. You do not go unnoticed.”
According to the Black Personhood Initiative, which is a local pro-life group, in the U.S., 85 percent of all abortions are performed in the wombs of unmarried women.
As a result, the organization’s members said they have called on local black men to support and stand by their pregnant partners and single mothers.
“I am all too familiar with this statistic, I know that getting pregnant out of wedlock produces an extra strenuous environment for all involved, which is one BIG reason you should wait for marriage to engage in sexual relations,” initiative member Ayesha Kreutz stated. “But, this is a time we all need to grow up and act like an adult, even if you didn’t want to, or weren’t ready to.”
The group has also asked community members to sign a “statement of concern for Monroe County,” at http://www.aminotachild.com/clergy-for-the-personhood-of-black-pre-born-boys-and-girls/#sign, as part of its Fatherhood Begins in the Womb Project.
