Mayor Stephanie Miner has participated in a New York City summit of mayors from across the U.S. to discuss the implementation of President Obama’s recent executive order on immigration, city officials stated.
“Mayors tackle immigration in our cities every day, and I’m pleased to join this group to have a holistic discussion on this important policy issue,” said Miner. “Syracuse is home to generations from many nations. I am proud to discuss our immigrant heritage with my colleagues from across America.”
Officials said she arrived Dec. 7 for a reception at New York City Hall.
The day-long meetings took place Dec. 8 at Gracie Mansion, the official residence of New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio.
The mayors discussed communications and organizing efforts around immigration issues, according to officials.
