Minimum Qualifications - Master's degree in a relevant field and five years of professional change management
and leadership experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent presentation, networking, verbal, listening, attention to detail, problem solving,
written communication, and project management skills required. Requires working
knowledge of Executive Order 11246 and related Affirmative Action obligations and
diversity/inclusion topics. Skilled communicator and listener with a high degree of
effectiveness in obtaining cooperation and support from a broad range of internal and
external constituents. Able to use discretion when handling confidential and sensitive
information. Juris doctor or other terminal degree preferred. Other preferred
skills/experience; influencing cultural change and outcomes in complex environment
working with leadership at all levels in an academic/clinical environment, innovator in the
field of strategic inclusion, diversity and/or human resources management, quality and
process improvement along with effective program and data management that results in
measurable cultural change and adherence to diversity and inclusion standards.

General Description - Directs overall implementation, management, oversight, evaluation and strategic
planning for programs designed to improve diversity and inclusive culture across
University staff. Develops and implements a full range of initiatives that support ongoing
leadership efforts to ensure organization-wide understanding, adoption and adherence to
the UR's commitment to diversity and inclusion. Supports the continuous, systematic and
focused recruitment and retention of diverse staff populations across the University of
Rochester system. Represents the Office of Human Resources on a variety of institutional
committees and working groups as designated by the AVP for HR on issues related to
diversity and inclusion. Leverages subject matter expertise and tactical leadership toward
a higher-level compliance achievement with internal and external regulations and
accrediting bodies. Collaborates with diversity and inclusion leaders across the University
and medical center including; supervise full time staff members and develop and manage
the office's budget and plan and forecast anticipated changes and new needs based on
office goals annually.

Work Duties - Under general direction and with latitude for independent judgment:
Defining and Measuring Staff Diversity: Articulates definition of diversity standards.
Develops policies and procedures for a universal set of diversity standards. Establishes
and measure institutional metrics that adhere to diversity standards.

Building Diversity in Learning Environments: Identifies opportunities to align diversity and
inclusion-based learning modules into the core learning management system curriculum.
Enhances the learning experience of staff through greater emphasis on diversity and
inclusion within the workplace environment and experiences. Ensures the organization
and alignment of programs dedicated to expanding the pipeline of diverse staff that enter
professional, administrative and leadership positions. Holds a leading role on diversity
and inclusion committee structures such as the Presidential Diversity Council, the
Presidential Diversity Implementation Committee, URMC Executive Committee on
Diversity and Inclusion and Faculty Diversity Officers. Ensures full development and
implementation of all action planning activities associated with ongoing compliance and
adherence to all applicable regulatory requirements.

Data Reporting and Compliance: Manages all staff diversity and inclusion data collection
and associated maintenance activities for UR. Compiles the submission of required
annual reports and cultivate HR data regarding staff diversity. Collaborates with education
teams on the annual review of staff pipeline programs. Evaluates staff engagement
surveys for the purposes of initiating a continuous environmental scan of diversity and
inclusion within UR. Develops methods of evaluation and assessment of programs to
track progress of the activities of the Office of Staff Diversity and Inclusion.

Creating a Community of Inclusion and Support: Ensures recruitment and retention efforts
for staff align with diversity standards. Oversees the development of training, workshops
and credentialing programs that enhance the diversity and inclusion abilities of staff.
Continuously refines training programs to heighten awareness of and reduce the impact
of bias in recruitment, hiring and promotion processes. Collaborates with all offices for
diversity and inclusion such as the URMC Office for Inclusion and Culture Development
and the Office for Faculty Development and Diversity. Advocates for institutional policies
and practices that further a climate of inclusion. Expands outreach of UR into the diverse
communities we serve emphasizing key relationships and partnerships with local and
national organizations that serve veterans, individuals with disabilities, underrepresented
minorities and women. Monitors and tracks peer and national trends and seek
benchmarks for success including suggestions for continual improvement. Works with
University procurement offices to develop and support a robust supplier diversity
