Title: Program Coordinator
The State University of New York (SUNY) at Geneseo is seeking a Program Coordinator to help establish, and ensure the success of the McNair Scholars Program, a federally-funded TRiO Program that will prepare disadvantaged http://minorityreporter.net/wp-content/uploads/awpcp/images/logo-e6b5462b-large.jpgand underrepresented students, particularly those in STEM fields, for access to and success in doctoral studies. The Program Coordinator is a full-time, 12-month position that reports to the Director of the McNair Scholars Program. This is a Research Foundation for SUNY position. Annual salary is $46,000.
The Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and monitoring McNair Scholars Program activities and services and will provide academic, personal, and career support to students; monitor students’ academic and research progress; coordinate student support services; work with faculty mentors and research directors; facilitate summer group-research courses; match scholars with other appropriate research opportunities and internships; work with similar programs at regional community colleges to support enrollment of transfer students in the McNair Program; coordinate graduate school visits and similar opportunities; develop and maintain the program website; prepare and maintain documentation of all activities and services provided to scholars; and assist the Program Director in formulating mandated reports.
• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field (e.g., STEM, psychology, counseling, academic administration). A Master’s degree is preferred.
• A minimum of one year of experience in an academic support program position that includes student counseling or tutoring.
• Excellent organizational skills suited to managing a complex project.
• Experience working with first-generation, low-income and/or underrepresented minority students.
