More InformationThe Rochester Housing Authority (www.rochesterhousing.org) is seeking a highly qualified and motivated candidate for the position of Executive Director.
The Rochester Housing Authority serves as the regional public housing authority for the five (5) county greater Rochester, New York region. Since 1955, RHA has been an essential housing resource for the greater Rochester area focused on providing quality housing opportunities and related services for over 22,000 lower income families, seniors, and disabled citizens. The Executive Director serves as Secretary to the Housing Authority’s Board of Commissioners and exercises administrative supervision over roughly 200 employees and a budget in excess $62 million.
The Executive Director’s primary responsibilities consist of:
- Interpreting the Housing and Community Development Act, New York State Public Housing Law, Federal, State, and local laws, rules and regulations relating to activities of the Authority;
- Interpreting the policies of the Authority and providing leadership and direction in the development of administrative procedures to effectuate them;
- Making recommendations to the Board of Commissioners regarding the development and operations of the Authority’s housing programs;
- Recommending policies to the Board of Commissioners to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the delivery of public housing and related services to tenants.
The ideal Executive Director candidate will possess a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree and at least five (5) years of experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity in public housing programs or urban, economic, and community development programs. The Rochester Housing Authority is looking for a candidate with excellent leadership, administrative, and organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Candidates should possess strong budgeting skills, the ability to plan and coordinate the work of others, as well as demonstrate experience collaborating with residents, citizens, peers, and governmental entities to accomplish designated goals and objectives.
