PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING NOTICE FOR WEST TAFT ROAD 2R PAVING PROJECT

The Onondaga County Department of Transportation will hold a Public Information Meeting to discuss roadway improvements to West Taft Road in the Town of Clay. The meeting will begin at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at:

Allen Road Elementary School
803 Allen Road
North Syracuse, NY 13212

After a brief presentation at 6:00 P.M., engineers will be available at project stations (open house format), offering a welcoming environment for the public to review preliminary plans, ask questions, and provide comments and concerns.

The proposed project begins 350’ west of the intersection with Buckley Road and proceeds easterly along West Taft Road for approximately 1.0 mile to the intersection with South Bay Road. The project is primarily a resurfacing project, and currently is in the preliminary design phase.

The West Taft Road corridor will be milled and paved to restore the pavement. As part of the work, traffic signals, shoulders, drainage, striping, and signage will be improved. Sidewalk and curb are planned to be constructed where warranted. Other possible improvements may include the installation of green infrastructure solutions to reduce storm water runoff.

This project is a locally administered federal aid project. It is being progressed by Onondaga County, with involvement from the New York State Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration.
