She has succeeded former president John Halstead, who retired this summer after 10 years of service at the school.
“I have been made to feel welcomed ever since I first stepped foot on campus,” Macpherson stated. “I want to get involved in the community and the college, and learn from you what our focus should be in the months and years ahead.”
Most recently, Macpherson had been provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at University of Wisconsin–La Crosse. Officials said, she will bring more than 20 years of experience in higher education as an author, professor, and administrator in both the United States and England to the role.
“Dr. Macpherson brings with her a strong record of academic accomplishment and administrative leadership, and great energy and interpersonal skills,” Scott Turner, chair of the Brockport College Council, and head of the presidential search committee stated. “I think she will be a terrific president.”
Macpherson received her B.A. in English and Creative Writing from St. Cloud State University, emigrated to the UK in the summer of 1990, and became a dual national in 2003.
She received her Ph.d. from the University of Newcastle in 1996, and began her academic career at the University of Central Lancashire in 1995.
