RCSD Selects Firm to Find Superintendent

By Staff

rcsdThe Rochester City School District’s Board of Education has reportedly decided to hire the Western New York Educational Service Council, a company with ties to the University of Buffalo, in order to find the district’s next superintendent.

Linda Cimusz, formerly the chief academic officer of the Buffalo School District, was recently named RCSD’s interim superintendent, to replace Dan Lowengard in the position, after Lowengard suffered a stroke in January.

Former RCSD superintendent Bolgen Vargas stepped down from the position last year, prior to Lowengard’s appointment.

According to board president Van White, it would cost the district $19,000 to hire the firm, which is less than it spent in the search that landed Vargas in the role, initially.

RCSD officials said they could potentially have WNYESC’s search results in a few months, in time to fill the position for the upcoming school year.

The school board will likely vote on its contract with WNYESC at its Feb. 25 meeting.
