Rochester Global Connections (RGC) will host “RGC Connect: Network, Volunteer Engage,” a networking and volunteer recruitment event, Wednesday, Oct. 26, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Rohrbach Brewing Company, 97 Railroad St.
According to officials, RGC will host a meet and greet from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.; then, presentations will begin at 5:30 p.m. and networking will follow until 7 p.m.
Light refreshments will also be provided.
Rochester City Councilmember and executive director of Center for Youth Elaine Spaull will be the featured speaker during the event, along with additional RGC members and volunteers, to talk about her involvement with the organization.
RGC awarded Spaull its Outstanding Service to the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) award at its annual award dinner in May “for her dedicated involvement as a professional resource for the State Department’s premier professional exchange program, IVLP,” the group stated.
The organization hosts emerging leaders from around the world to come to Rochester to meet with professional counterparts in fields ranging from human services, entrepreneurship, technology, and youth advocacy.
According to a press release, the group is looking for young professionals, mid-level professionals, and specialists who would be interested in being a professional resource for these programs.
Professional resources have the opportunity to network with visiting dignitaries, business leaders, and influencers from a range of industries and countries.
In addition, the organization’s additional volunteer openings will be for hospitality hosts.
Prospective volunteers will have an opportunity to sign up to be dinner hospitality hosts, which consists of hosting dinner in their homes for international visitors; or cultural hospitality hosts, which consists of accompanying visitors on cultural excursions.
RGC is also seeking volunteers to help international students at the University of Rochester and Rochester Institute of Technology acclimate to American culture, the group said.
Interested individuals may register for the event at https://rocglobalconnections.eventbrite.com, or call RGC at (585) 275-8779, for additional information regarding the event.
