The Rochester Police Department and Rochester Police Locust Club will host an American Red Cross memorial blood drive in memory of Officer Daryl Pierson Thursday, Dec. 10, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the Rochester Police Locust Club, 1425 Lexington Ave.
“This blood drive is a great way to remember Daryl, who gave so much,” Ralph Gagliano, executive vice president of the Rochester Police Locust Club, stated. “Giving a little to help others is one way to honor Daryl.”
Participants should bring ID; eat a meal, and drink plenty of fluids before blood donation, city officials stated.
Individuals interested in donating may call 1-800-RED CROSS to make an appointment, or visit redcrossblood.org, and download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App. The blood drive’s sponsor code is “pierson2014.”
This is the second annual blood drive held in honor of Pierson, who had been fatally shot in the line of duty while trying to apprehend a parole absconder in September of 2014.
