Rochester’s 2015 SummerFest Moves to Sahlen’s Stadium

bluesbbq1Mayor Lovely Warren has announced the city’s 2015 SummerFest will move to Sahlen’s Stadium this year, Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, returning to its outdoor roots. The two-day music festival will feature award-winning national artists, local food and beverages, and family-friendly activities, the mayor stated.

“SummerFest is a great Rochester tradition that enhances Rochester’s reputation as the city of festivals,” Warren said. “Moving the two-day event to Sahlen’s Stadium will lend it an outdoor, festival-feel with something for everyone in the family to enjoy. Rochester’s fine special events contribute to our goals of safer streets and more jobs, by creating vitality in our community, and generating positive economic impact.”

In addition to music on the main stage, Warren said SummerFest will also feature kid-friendly activities like batting cages, rock climbing, face painting, and bounce houses. Food from local vendors will also be available.

Both days of Rochester’s SummerFest will take place at Sahlen’s Stadium, 460 Oak St. The full music schedule is as follows:

Friday, July 10: 

A night of “Blues and BBQ.” WDKX’s Andre Marcel and Tony Boler will host a “pre-Memory Lane party” and festival goers will have the opportunity to take part in “Rochester’s biggest line dancing party,” city officials said.

the featured artists will include Clarence Carter, Pokey Bear, Lenny Williams, Jimmie Highsmith, Chris Beard and Joe Beard.

Gates will open at 5 p.m.

Tickets will be $15 in advance, $25 at the event, $35 VIP.

Friday night’s event has been co-sponsored by N.Y. State Senator Joseph Robach, WDKX, Phu Concepts, and the House of Guitars.

Saturday, July 11:

“A day of Old School Hip-Hop with today’s R&B.”

Featured artists will include Salt-n-Pepa; Doug E. Fresh; Rob Base; Rakim; MERJ (formerly of Blackstreet); NEXT; Rico Love; Jidenna; Leela James; Kayla Brianna; Cecil; and Trent Monroe.

Gates will open at noon.

Tickets will be $37 in advance, $47 at the event, $57 VIP.

A special combination ticket, allowing attendees entry to both days of SummerFest will be available in advance for $37 at Sahlen’s Stadium Box Office.
