In the Community: From Save Rochester
Save Rochester, Inc. hosts 3rd Annual Turkey Angels campaign for 2022.
The turkey baskets will be delivered to the front doors of families of Rochester’s HOMICIDE victims.
The Rochester Police Department (RPD) has partnered with the organization to kick-off this year’s Turkey Angels campaign for the 2nd consecutive year.
RPD Officers will spend about 2 hours on deliveries on Thursday (11/17) and Monday (11/21).
They are also inviting and calling for people from the community; individuals and teams to help kick off turkey deliveries:
Date: Thursday, November 17th, 2022
Time: 4:30 p.m.
Place: 10 Manhattan Square, Rochester NY 14607
With 72 homicides in the City of Rochester this year to-date, Rochester could be on track to exceed the number of homicides in 2021.
“The initiative is important because it helps to mend relationships in our community for the greater good. We also know that these initiatives help residents and law enforcement build trust with one another. Through building trust with community stakeholders, Save Rochester is helping to make communities in our area safer,” according to a Save Rochester press release.
Thanksgiving baskets will be handmade and feature a large turkey, fresh produce, beans, rice, and a small variety of other food staples. Last year we delivered 54 turkeys to the front doors of families in need. There is still time for families to register: https://saverochester.org/community-events.
Registration for turkey deliveries end 11/19/22.
