RTS to hold Information Sessions for Proposed New Route

By Staff

route busRegional Transit Service (RTS) plans to launch a new route, and combine two previous routes,  which will now run between the 19th Ward and Monroe Community College, RTS officials said.

Officials said the new route, Route 25, would combine Routes 12 and 2, which are currently operating in and around Genesee Park Blvd., Strong Memorial Hospital and E. Henrietta Road.

RTS will hold four public information sessions to discuss the proposal.

“Evaluating existing routes, and introducing new ones, are part of RTS’ ongoing transformation into a highly efficient public transit and routing system,” said transportation planner Julie Tolar. “The on-the-bus listening sessions we held for Route 12 last fall were very helpful in identifying customers’ needs. As with the route restructuring that occurred with the opening of the RTS Transit Center, Route 25 will help us provide additional service that is safe, reliable, and convenient.”

The information sessions have been scheduled as follows:

  • Tuesday, Feb. 17, 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Arnett Public Library, 310 Arnett Blvd.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 18, 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 to 5 p.m. RTS Transit Center, St. Paul Information Desk
  • Thursday, Feb. 19, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Arnett Public Library, 310 Arnett Blvd.

According to officials, the new route will double weekday trips, add weekend trips, and extend service to Brighton-Henrietta Townline Road from downtown Rochester.

In addition, officials said Route 25 could begin operating as soon as April 2015.

Customers who are unable to provide feedback during the one of the four sessions may also comment online at www.myRTS.com, or by contacting RTS Customer Service at (585) 288-1700.
