The school’s president, Gerard J. Rooney, said campus police are currently investigating the matter, and officials do not believe the individual or individuals responsible are presently part of the campus community.
Rooney has emailed the following statement, in part, to the campus community:
“I am both saddened and angered by what took place, and I want to reassure the Fisher community that you are safe here, that everyone is valued here, and that incidents like these will be promptly and appropriately addressed. Ours is an inclusive community that welcomes all individuals regardless of ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation, or religious background. I am committed to continue to work with all members of the campus community, to develop both educational and informational programming that will expand, and continue a campus dialogue surrounding diversity topics. ”
According to officials, anyone with information regarding the incident should contact the Office of Safety and Security at (585) 385-8025.
