RochesterWorks!, in collaboration with the City of Rochester’s Operation Transformation Rochester (OTR) program, has announced that applications for the Summer Youth Employment and Summer of Opportunity Programs are now available.
The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is a government funded program, operated by RochesterWorks!, in collaboration with OTR’s Summer of Opportunity Program (SOOP), which provides youth six weeks of paid work experience through work sites, and programs across the county.
Officials said both programs have provided city youth with some of their first “real-world” work experience, and in 2015, over 800 youth participated in the programs.
Youth ages 14 to 20 who live in Monroe County or the city of Rochester may apply. The deadline for online applications is March 19.
Additional information for youth, parents, and employers regarding the program can be found at www.summeryouthemployment.org.
