U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will be hiring approximately 1,600 national Border Patrol Agents (BPA), including in Upstate New York, by September 30, 2015, officials from the organization stated.
Job seekers may submit their applications to https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/402600700 until May 31, or until 16,500 applications for the jobs have been received, according to Customs and Border Protection spokesman David Long.
Upstate New York interviews will be held in Buffalo, Rochester, Oswego, and Wellesley Island, N.Y.
Applicants must be under the age of 37, as well as a U.S. resident.
In addition, qualified applicants will also be required to pass a medical examination, background investigation, and drug test.
According to Long, there may be positions available in Upstate New York, as well as along the borders the U.S. shares with Canada and Mexico.
Pay for border patrol jobs begins at $39,000 per year, and increases up to $70,192 with promotions.
