United Christian Leadership Ministry President Rev. Lewis Stewart said Thursday organizers of Rochester’s Black Lives Matter movement should become more organized, and identify their goals.
Stewart also called for more collaboration between the community and police, to bring about increased police reform.
“We are trying to certainly build bridges,” Stewart stated. “We are certainly trying to establish accountability on both parts.”
According to Stewart, UCLM has also called for a summit between the black community, and police from Rochester, as well as police from surrounding areas, which includes Brighton, Gates, Greece, and Irondequoit.
Stewart said the group hopes to convene the summit by fall.
