Graduating Seniors can apply now through February 28th.

New for 2025-2026, The Summit will award two scholarships to students attending trade schools.

The Summit Federal Credit Union has a long history of awarding college scholarships for eligible high school seniors. The Summit annually presents scholarships through the New York Credit Union Association Scholarship Program, the local Rochester Chapter of the NYCUA Scholarship Program, and The Summit Federal Credit Union’s own scholarships.

With the cost of traditional colleges and universities nearly doubling in recent years, The Summit recognizes that many students are now choosing to attend trade schools, technical colleges, or pursuing certification in medical, residential, or commercial trades such as HVAC, electrical, construction, medical assistance, etc.

Enrollment in vocational-focused community colleges increased 16% from 2022 to 2023, according to data from the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center. New for the 2025-2026 academic year, The Summit announces that they will be awarding two additional scholarships annually to students pursuing further education at trade schools, technical institutes, or technical certification programs.

Applicants for all 2025 scholarships must either be a current member of The Summit or join The Summit as a primary account holder. The deadline for applications is February 28, 2025. Information on further criteria and the application process can be found on The Summit’s website: summitfcu.org.
