Adam Eaton Art recently announced its upcoming art exhibition, “Black Is Beautiful” 2023, showcased at Geva Theatre Center on Monday, March 27th, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The “Black Is Beautiful” 2023 exhibition, free to the public, is an opportunity for the Rochester community to come together and celebrate the beauty and diversity of its residents. The show encourages dialogue and self-reflection, challenging traditional beauty standards and redefining them to include all skin tones and hair textures.

“I want to show the world that Black People are beautiful and specifically Rochester is Beautiful,” says Adam Eaton, the featured artist of the exhibition.

The exhibition celebrates the unparalleled beauty of the people living in Rochester, NY and explores how art and culture shape our definitions and perceptions of beauty. The show features the work of local artist Adam Eaton who captures the essence and diversity of Rochester’s Black community through fine art photography.

Many in my community suffer daily racism and discrimination, so I’m using my power as an Artist to speak about these issues. Through photography, I can capture how I see the world and allow others to see the beauty I experience daily in my community. I want to show the world that Black People are beautiful, Eaton’s artist statement from adameaton.com.

“I have always been a creative person and wanted to tap into my creativity after years of dealing with depression. I started taking pictures of the beautiful people around my hometown Rochester, NY with my iPhone and then a local community member donated a professional camera,” Eaton said.

“So really I’m motivated by the love and encouragement of the community. I love my hometown and I thank God for creating the beautiful people that live in Rochester.”
