Black Cinema Series Presents Dystopian Film, Executive Order on March 26

The Black Cinema Series will screen Executive Order at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, at The Little Theatre (Theatre 1), located at 240 East Ave. in Rochester’s East End District.
Directed by Lázaro Ramos, the film stars Alfred Enoch, Taís Araújo, Seu Jorge, and Adriana Esteves. Set in a dystopian near future in Rio de Janeiro, the story follows a lawyer (Enoch) who sues the Brazilian government for reparations for descendants of African slaves. In response, the authoritarian regime enacts an executive order forcing all Black citizens to relocate to Africa, triggering chaos, protests, and a resistance movement.
A post-screening discussion will feature Jeffrey Tucker, associate professor of English at the University of Rochester, and Miriam Moore, chief diversity officer for the Town of Brighton. Additional panelists will be announced on the Rochester Association of Black Journalists’ (RABJ) Facebook page and The Little’s website.
