Brucewayne Beaman Sentenced to 25 Years for the Death of Michael DiCesare

Rochester, NY- On Wednesday, December 18, 2024, 23-year-old Brucewayne Beaman was sentenced by Monroe County Court Judge Julie Hahn to 25 years in the New York State Department of Corrections followed by 5 years of post-release supervision. Brucewayne Beaman previously pled guilty to Manslaughter in the 1st Degree for the 18 minute beating that resulted in the death of Michael DiCesare on Christmas morning.

On December 25, 2023, Rochester Police Officers located Michael DiCesare on the corner of Bay Street and Portland Avenue. Upon the Officers’ arrival, the victim was found seriously injured from a violent robbery and immediately transported to Strong Memorial Hospital. On February 4, 2024, Michael DiCesare died from his injuries.

After an investigation conducted by the Rochester Police Department, it was determined that Brucewayne Beaman was responsible for the robbery and subsequent homicide.

The case was prosecuted by Special Assistant District Attorney Aliyah Fowler, of the Major Felony Bureau.

“Next week will be one year since the violent robbery that led to Michael DiCesare’s death,” said Assistant District Attorney Aliyah Fowler. “On a day that the victim should spend with his family, an empty seat will be at their table, because of Brucewayne Beaman. For eighteen minutes, the defendant assaulted and attacked Michael DiCesare in a savage beating. While I am glad that family of the victim can find justice in today’s sentence, nothing will bring back their loved one.”

“Brucewayne Beaman is violent, heartless individual who had no concerns about beating someone to death on Christmas morning,” said Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley. “I want to thank the Rochester Police Department for leading this investigation, which led to the identification and apprehension of Brucewayne Beaman. This death of a loved one will always have a lasting impact on their family, but especially during the holiday season. It is my sincerest hope that with Brucewayne Beaman serving the next 25 years incarcerated, he can contemplate the family he ruined with his violence.”
