City of Rochester to Continue ‘R-Night Out’ Summer Series on July 27
The City of Rochester’s ‘R-Night Out’ summer series is back!
Youth from 13 to 18 years old are invited to participate in an evening of fun and festivities on Thur., July 27 from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., at the Rochester Community Sports Complex, 460 Oak Street.
This dynamic youth-centered event will feature sporting activities, crafts, photo booths, food, carnival snacks, music (including a DJ), a silent disco dance and more.
In 2022, Mayor Malik Evans and Dr. Shirley Green, the city’s commissioner of recreation and human services, sought to provide youth with safe, “late evening” recreation activities. “Green met with her recreation team to discuss the idea and R-Night Out was born,” the city said.
The inaugural year (2022) was a huge success, according to a city spokesperson, who also said, “This Thursday kicks off R-Night Out for our second year, and we hope to see some returning patrons as well as new faces.”
Additional R-Night Out events are scheduled 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. on the following dates and locations:
Aug. 3, 2023 – Skate & Splash, Genesee Valley Park Sports Complex, 131 Elmwood Ave.
Aug. 10, 2023 – Family Movie Night, Rochester Community Sports Complex, 460 Oak St.
Attendees will be required to walk through a security scan upon entry. There will be no re-entry and no bags will be allowed into the events. Bag check will be available.
