City Reminds Residents of Support Resources During Holiday Season

The holiday season is a time of year that can bring joy and happiness, as well as feelings of stress and loneliness for many. The City of Rochester’s Crisis Intervention Services Unit is reminding city families that there are community resources and support services available to help them through what can be a difficult time to navigate.

The American Psychological Association said that nearly nine in 10 people experience elevated stress levels in the months of November and December for various reasons, including financial concerns and missing deceased or estranged loved ones.

“We want the community to know that there is help for anyone who may be struggling around this time of year,” said Mayor Malik D. Evans. “I encourage families to check on one another and share the numerous resources and supports services that the City and community organizations have to offer. I am grateful for our Crisis Intervention Services team for being there every day to support city families who experience crises, trauma, or victimization.”

Individuals experiencing an immediate mental health crisis should call 211 or 988 and ask for the Person In Crisis (PIC) team.

The City’s Crisis Intervention Services’ Community Support Team can provide resources and help navigate available community support offerings. They can be reached at 428-6630.
