City to Host Men on the Move Workforce Development Workshop

The City of Rochester’s Adult Workforce Development initiative in partnership with Rochester Monroe and Poverty Initiative (RMAPI) and Community Employment Opportunity (CEO) is hosting a Meeting of the Minds event themed Men on the Move: Building Confidence and Careers, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, Feb. 28 at the Monroe Community College Damon Center, 321 State St.
Men on the Move is an event specifically designed to support men of color. It includes a dynamic panel of Black men who will lead a discussion on topics such as mental health in the workplace, overcoming adversity, and the importance of career stability. Attendees will gain valuable resources and insights through interactive workshops that focus on essential skills such as personal branding, self-advocacy, goal setting, entrepreneurship, and discovering personal strengths.
“These sessions are designed to prepare men with the insight and networking skills necessary to thrive both professionally and personally,” said Mayor Malik Evans. “I encourage everyone to invite the men in their lives to participate, draw inspiration from powerful stories of resilience and success, and take steps toward building a prosperous future.”
The event provides opportunities for attendees to connect with like-minded individuals who can support their personal and professional goals. Participants will receive free, professional headshots and complimentary breakfast and lunch.
The City’s Adult Workforce Development Initiative supports, cultivates, and maintains relationships with local businesses and community-based organizations who are interested in hiring city residents. The initiative aims to understand local economic development activities and local labor market data to align workforce development programs to any emerging fields through job fairs, life skills trainings, workforce connections summits, and future programming to support the needs of the Rochester community. It also manages the workforce development grants given to outside workforce development programs growing, in-demand fields and industries.
The workshop is free and open to the public; however, registration is required. For more information and to register, visit www.CityofRochester.Gov/MenOnTheMove.
