Deadline for Rochester Police Department Citizen’s Police Academy Nears
The Rochester Police Department’s Citizen’s Police Academy (CPA) starts September 13.
The 10-week program teaches participants how the department operates, recruits, and trains its officers.
Each week, Rochester Police instructors will focus on one or two lessons for attendees. Classes include firearms training with police officers, de-escalation exercises, and demonstrations of how police handle homicides, vehicle stops, drug sales, and more.
The CPA, established by RPD in 1992, aims to build public trust between officers and city residents. The academy is considered a demonstration of the department’s values: “Serving with Pride – Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence.”
