Edgerton R-Center Model Railroad Delivers Holiday Cheer During Special December Hours

Chugging along for 73 years and counting, the Edgerton R-Center’s historical model train exhibit is open to visitors free of charge during special holiday hours, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday in December at 41 Backus St.

Maintained and supported by the Edgerton Model Railroad Club, the Railroad Room dates to1950 and features interactive scenes from Rochester across all four seasons. The winter scene depicts a festive winter wonderland with a community on parade and nine buttons allowing visitors to bring elements of the scene to life.

“Rochester is full of opportunities for friends and families to gather and enjoy the holiday season in our R-Centers and across our city. The historical Edgerton model train exhibit is one example that has been well-loved for nearly 75 years,” said Mayor Malik D. Evans. “Thanks to the dedication of the Edgerton Model Railroad Club volunteers, this exhibit continues to provide joy to Rochester’s children and families.”

After the holiday season concludes, the Railroad Room will continue its normal hours from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the last Saturday of every month.
