Starting on Fri., Aug. 4, 2023, Adirondack Creamery is partnering with Foodlink to provide individual ice cream cups in addition to the regular meals served every Friday in August.

The partnership aims to distribute hundreds of ice cream cups every Friday.

This is the second year of Adirondack Creamery’s partnership with Foodlink which adds an ‘ice cream element’ to Foodlink's "mobile meals" vehicles, which are already familiar to many of Rochester’s children and families.

Foodlink is re-introducing its "mobile meals" initiative as an extension of the Summer Meals Program.

The program's mobile vehicles service certain neighborhoods with limited access to traditional summer meal options, offering "grab-and-go" meals throughout the summer to address the issue of children having difficulty accessing healthy meals during the summer months.

"Food insecurity is a critical problem," Paul Nasrani of Adirondack Creamery said, adding, "many families with small children have to choose between paying for rent or food. As a parent, I cannot imagine how hard and heartbreaking making those choices must be.” Nasrani went on to say, “I believe every child has a fundamental right to healthy meals daily. We are privileged to help support Foodlink's efforts to ensure children in the greater Rochester area have access to healthy meals through their Summer Meals Program."

Nasrani will personally deliver his ice cream during Foodlink's mobile route, scheduled between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., for the first Friday giveaway on Aug. 4.

Foodlink plans to continue its "mobile meals" through August, with additional ice cream giveaways scheduled for August 11, 18, and 25.
