Guest at the Table: Dr. DJ Robinson: Dom will sponsor her to speak at your next event

“A Guest at the Table” is a synopsis of a previously aired and particularly interesting interview on my No-Nonsense Roundtable radio show, which airs at 10 a.m. Saturdays on NewsRadio WHAM-1180.

My goal with the No-Nonsense Roundtable is to introduce you to fascinating people who you may not come across in your day-to-day travels.

Dr. Robinson holds a Doctor of Ministry in Leadership and is an author and motivational speaker.

But sometimes you need to see them in person to really hear what they are saying.

Perfect example: Dr. DJ Robinson.

Dr. Robinson holds a Doctor of Ministry in Leadership and is an author and motivational speaker. I saw her give a talk to about 200 people and her presentation had them in the palm of her hand.

Dr. Robinson is a forceful and heartfelt speaker. Best of all, she is no-nonsense. As a single mother who successfully navigated personal challenges while earning her doctorate, Dr. Robinson brings both profound empathy and practical wisdom to her work on overcoming adversity. In addition to her doctorate, she earned a master’s in theological studies and pastoral care certificate. She also has a certified minority/woman owned business.

She’s all about healing communities and empowering leaders. She uses faith and a trauma-informed understanding to talk about leadership principles that inspire resilience and authenticity.

I think the world of her. What I love about our conversations is that you can get into a lively, friendly debate and it remains on an intellectual level. You have a philosophical argument and neither of you gets offended.

She offers important messages on building resilience, dealing with adversity through faith and self-discovery and how we need authentic communication in our digital world. Not only how social media makes us look outside ourselves for worth, but how it changes the way we communicate.

“When we sit in front of one another we can actually hear tone of voice we can perceive body language and movements but when there's something like an email

or a message, chat or something of that nature, you don't really get a chance to grasp the where that person in their perspective and their worldview is actually coming from,” she told me.

She says communication is 85% to 90% non-verbal.

“When we are just reading things on a screen, it’s hard to know where the other person is coming from. You’re just reading words based on your own feelings at that time and that’s very dangerous. Face to face communication is important and the reason we should actually come together.”

Seeing and listening to Dr. Robinson is how you absorb her full message. That is why I am sponsoring six lectures by Dr. Robinson for community groups.

Her talks are grounded in research, theological depth and practical application. She tailors the topic to her audience and collaborates on the presentation from planning to delivery.
