Kyle Ashford Pleads Guilty to All Counts

Rochester, NY- On Thursday, December 5, 2024, 20-year-old Kyle Ashford pled guilty to the indictment, which included Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree, Robbery in the 1st Degree, Assault in the 1st Degree, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree for shooting a 24-year-old man outside a house on Denise Road in the Town of Greece.

During the early hours of May 17, 2024, Greece Police Officers responded to a home on Denise Road for reports of a man shot. They located a 24-year-old man who was shot two times in the upper body, and Emergency Medical Services quickly transported the victim to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he eventually made a full recovery.

After a thorough investigation, Greece Police Investigators identified Kyle Ashford as the shooter. He was arrested for the shooting and armed robbery. Kyle Ashford admitted to shooting the victim over a dispute.

The case was prosecuted by Special Assistant District Attorney Matthew Schiano, of the Major Felony Bureau.

“Kyle Ashford acted violently and intentionally when he attempted to take the life of another young man,” said Assistant District Attorney Matthew Schiano. “While I am grateful that the victim in this case made a full recovery, he will live with the trauma for the rest of his life. I want to thank the Greece Police Department for their detailed investigation that led to the apprehension of Kyle Ashford. It is my hope that Kyle Ashford will use his time in the New York State Department of Corrections to contemplate his choices that could have left someone dead.”

“Kyle Ashford was only 19-years-old when he nearly took another man’s life,” said Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley. “The defendant shot the victim outside of his cousin’s house with the intention to use his illegally possessed weapon. This behavior has no place in our community. Kyle Ashford is best served in the New York State Department of Corrections, where I hope he spends his years considering how to become a lawful citizen.”

Kyle Ashford will be sentenced on January 16, 2025, in front of New York State Supreme Court Justice Argento.
