Man Sentenced to 18 Years
Hayden Cypressi, a 27-year-old man, was sentenced on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, by Monroe County Court Judge Vacca to 18 years in the New York State Department of Corrections. He will also have 15 years of post-release supervision and must register as a sex offender. Cypressi had previously pleaded guilty to Attempted Rape in the 1st Degree and Sexual Abuse in the 1st Degree.
Between May 2022 and October 2022, there were multiple reports of sexual assaults against women in the Park Avenue area of Rochester. After a thorough investigation, the Rochester Police Department identified Hayden Cypressi as the perpetrator. He confessed to attempted rape and sexual assault of four women during this period, all of whom were strangers.
The case was handled by Special Assistant District Attorney Hillary Langdon from the Special Victims Unit. Langdon expressed, “The actions of Hayden Cypressi in these sexual assaults are a woman's worst nightmare. He targeted and attacked young women, but thanks to the bravery of the survivors who came forward, he will not be able to harm anyone else. I am satisfied that he will spend the next 18 years reflecting on his heinous deeds in the New York State Department of Corrections.”
Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley added, “Predators like Hayden Cypressi instill fear in women, causing them to constantly worry about their safety. His violent and disturbing actions have left lasting trauma on multiple survivors. I hope that these brave women can continue to heal while Cypressi serves his 18-year sentence in the New York State Department of Corrections.”
