RCSD’s Music Education Program Receives National Recognition
The Rochester City School District (RCSD) has been honored with the 2023 Best Communities for Music Education designation from the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education.
RCSD has received this nationwide distinction for the fifth consecutive year.
“We are thrilled to receive the 2023 Best Communities for Music Education designation from the NAMM Foundation for the fifth consecutive year,” said Dr. Carmine Peluso, Superintendent of Schools.
The district qualified for the Best Communities designation, by answering detailed questions regarding funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs.
The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas reviewed the responses after being verified by school officials.
“This award is a testament to the dedication of our outstanding music educators and our commitment to providing students with access to high-quality music education that prepares them for success in all aspects of their lives,” Peluso said.
Now in its 24th year, the 2023 Best Communities for Music Education program has recognized 830 school districts and 78 schools across 43 states for the outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders and their support for music education as part of a well-rounded education for all children.
