RCSD School Selection for 2025 – 2026 School Year Available Now

The Rochester City School District’s School Selection process for the 2025 – 2026 school year begins today Friday, December 6. This applies to families with students entering Kindergarten, 7th, or 9th grade, including those kindergarten students currently attending an RCSD program or receiving Special Education support. Families can apply to attend a school in their zone in addition to several citywide offerings. The application process is completely online at www.rcsdk12.org/schoolselection.

The School Selection Process can be explained in three easy steps.

Learn about school options and school zones: School profiles on the District’s website are a great place for families to learn about the many unique school offerings. Families registering for elementary and middle school need to know which zone they live in, as they can apply for a school within their zone or a citywide offering. Citywide schools are open to families regardless of zone boundaries. The online digital magazine is a great resource for families to learn about all the exciting middle and high school offerings.
Rank School Selections: Families are encouraged to talk to their children and rank each school based on their interests and each school’s unique features.
Apply: The School Selection application deadline is Friday, February 21, 2025.

Families who need support with the online process can call the Office of Student Registration at 585-262-8241. Student registration specialists are available to work with families to discuss school options. Families can also visit the Office of Student Registration at 131 West Broad Street, Floor 1, which is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 – 3:30 pm.

Families are invited to a special Stepping Into Kindergarten event to learn about the schools in each zone on Saturday, December 7, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, at East High School, 1801 East Main Street. The District will have special Saturday hours on two Saturdays (January 11 and February 8) from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm to help support families with the registration process.
