Reality

Vice President Kamala Harris

I saw in Vice President Harris, a candidate that was equipped to carry out the responsibilities of President of the United States.    I believed that this country would finally allow a Black Woman to hold one of the highest positions in the world.  I thought, “It’s our turn now.”

On November 6th, I turned on the television.  I watched the election the night before and went to sleep hoping all the red I saw on the map would be blue in the morning.  It wasn’t.  Trump swept the election with a commanding lead.  I cried, I felt despair, I felt betrayed, and I cried some more.

As I analyzed the events from both parties during the presidential campaign. I remembered the Presidential debate where Harris dominated her opponent. I thought about the media constantly warning us how close the election was.  I thought about Trump’s disapproval ratings. I thought about all the women that wanted their rights back, I thought about all the women, men, youth, Sororities, Fraternities and Unions that mobilized to Elect Kamala.  I thought about the celebrities and Republicans that endorsed her, and rallies that were always full. I don’t understand the discrepancy between the excitement I saw and felt and the perceived lack of votes  for Harris.

My intention is not to start a conspiracy. However, there were several bomb threats on election day.  There were power outages, and who knows what else?  Is it so far-fetched to believe that something else happened on election night or prior to election night that caused the Blue Wall to be a Red Wave instead?

None of that matters now, Democratic Nominee, Kamala Harris has conceded.  The Democrats are pointing fingers and blaming Biden. The media is guessing about what they think might have happened.  Analysts are claiming the state of the economy and inflation was the reason Democratic Nominee Harris did not win the election.

We may never know what happened.  There may not be anything else to know, America could have really voted their conscious on Tuesday.     The reality is it is not our turn, America is not ready for a Black, Brown, or White Female President. There is a faction in this country that has a plan for a felon, liar and rapist to be its Commander and Chief.

The nation is not sure what the plan is.  We have heard about Project 2025, we have heard about mass deportations, tariffs, and many other   issues that are cause for great concern.

We must spend the next 4 years educating and supporting our communities.  We must be prepared to vote in the primary and the midterm elections.  We can’t stay sad for too long; we must continue to fight.  The next 4 years might be the biggest fight some of us have ever seen in our lifetimes.
