ReShaping Rochester 2025 Program Series: Shaping Our Best City

The 19th Annual ReShaping Rochester Program Series kicks off in February with an exciting lineup of in-person events at the Memorial Art Gallery. This year’s theme, Shaping Our Best City, invites community members to engage in meaningful discussions about the future of Rochester.

The series features prominent speakers who will share their insights on the city’s growth and transformation. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with others and contribute to conversations focused on making Rochester a better place by 2025.

All speaker events are free and open to the public. Attendees will also have a chance to win a free MAG membership in a raffle at each event. AIA (American Institute of Architects) CES credits are available for those who register in advance.

The upcoming How Media Shapes Our City event will take place Tuesday, February 25, 2025 | 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Memorial Art Gallery, University Avenue. Join the social hour from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the MAG Vanden Brul Pavilion, followed by a panel discussion from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the MAG Auditorium.

This discussion will explore how media can influence urban development. The media often focuses on negative aspects such as crime and struggling schools, which can distort perceptions and hinder investment. By highlighting success stories of local businesses, resilient schools, and vibrant communities, media can inspire change and encourage investment in Rochester. Journalists have the power to shape public engagement and ensure more accurate, positive portrayals of urban life.
