Rochester Police, Urban League of Rochester Announce Historic Partnership

Rochester Police Department Deputy Chief Keith Stith was joined today by the President and CEO of the Urban League of Rochester, Dr. Seanelle Hawkins, to announce a historic partnership between the two agencies. The Urban League of Rochester donated office space at its headquarters, 265 North Clinton Ave., to be used by members of the police department. The shared space provides an unprecedented opportunity for police officers to work side-by-side with Urban League staff and clients in an effort to build meaningful relationships that have the potential to expand throughout the Rochester community.

“I am thrilled to partner with the Urban League of Rochester, a premier civil rights organization in our community since 1965, to breakdown barriers and develop relationships between police and members of the community,” said Deputy Chief Stith. “The Rochester Police Department is dedicated to building relationships throughout our community, and I want to thank Dr. Hawkins for her incredible leadership in forming this innovative partnership.”

Dr. Seanelle Hawkins, President and CEO of the Urban League said “The Urban League is proud to collaborate with the Rochester Police Department in a shared space dedicated to strengthening our community. This partnership underscores Chief Smith and Deputy Chief Stith's commitment to fostering inclusive strategies for all to manifest a safer Rochester.”
