RPD Seek Public's Help in Locating Suspect in Maplewood Mass Shooting

The Rochester Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Niger Johnson, a suspect in connection with a mass shooting that took place in July at Maplewood Park.

The shooting, which shocked the Rochester community, left multiple victims wounded. Authorities have been actively investigating the incident and believe Johnson played a significant role in the violence.

In an effort to locate Johnson, police have released a flyer with his description and other pertinent details. Residents are encouraged to review the flyer and report any information that could assist in the search.

“We are urging anyone who may know Johnson’s whereabouts to come forward,” a police spokesperson said. “Tips can be submitted anonymously, and we want to assure the community that we are doing everything we can to bring justice for the victims.”

Those with information are asked to contact the Rochester Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit or use the anonymous tip line.

The Maplewood shooting, which took place during a large gathering at the park, has sparked increased efforts to address gun violence in the city. Police are hoping the public’s involvement will lead to an arrest and help provide closure for those affected by the tragedy.
