Steuben County Man Going to Prison for Possession of Child Pornography
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced today that James Miller, 66, of Corning, NY, who was convicted of possession of child pornography involving prepubescent minors, was sentenced to serve 20 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas M. Testani, who handled the case, stated that in May 2021, the New York State Police received a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) that Miller’s email account uploaded suspected images of child pornography. On May 26, 2021, the New York State Police executed a search warrant at Miller’s Fox Ridge Road residence, and seized several digital devices. A forensic review of a seized cell phone and a computer recovered approximately 100 images of child pornography.
The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia and the New York State Police, under the direction of Major Kevin Sucher. Additional assistance was provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
