Urban League of Rochester Seeks Businesses to Join Interrupt Racism Cohort

The Urban League of Rochester is now accepting applications for its 2024 Interrupt Racism Cohort, set to begin in mid - January 2024.

Applications are now open for the 2024 INTERRUPT RACISMTM Cohort. INTERRUPT RACISM is Greater Rochester’s anti-racism training program of choice intended for local businesses and organizations ready to dismantle institutional racism. Our model allows organizations to create equitable work environments by removing inequitable policies, practices, and behaviors.

The 12-month cohort will explore topics like:

  1. How to assess your organization's culture

  2. Understanding the ABCs of DEI work

  3. How to recruit and retain a diverse workforce

  4. How to create equitable performance management plans

“The research has been clear on this. Embracing equity in the workplace is good for the bottom line,” said Dr. Candice Lucas, VP of Equity & Advocacy. “Not only is valuing employees and treating them fairly the right thing to do, it can also improve recruitment efforts, and increase employee retention and productivity.” The INTERRUPT RACISM Cohort is here to help organizations identify inequitable policies, practices, and behaviors. The Kick-Off Orientation on January 17 and the May INTERRUPT RACISM Conference will be in-person, but all other monthly meetings will be held virtually, on the second Wednesday of each month, from 2 - 4 pm.

We encourage businesses to elevate their DEI efforts, creating an equitable work environment for all employees to thrive.
