Wine & Chocolate Festival to Benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester

The Summit Federal Credit Union will sponsor the Rochester Wine & Chocolate Festival on Saturday, February 15th, at the Joseph Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center. The festival features numerous regional wine, spirits, cider, and chocolate vendors, as well as other local businesses. Two sessions of the festival will be offered: an early session from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm, and a later session from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

The Summit-sponsored Wine & Chocolate Festivals in Rochester are highly rated and always anticipated. Each event also raises funds for a local beneficiary. This year proceeds from the Rochester Wine & Chocolate Festival will benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester. Ronald McDonald House Charities give a family with a sick child what they need most – each other. The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester is to look after the health and well-being of children and families. They believe all families deserve access to quality care and they help to reduce barriers by providing a comfortable place to stay at no cost. Whether it’s lodging, transportation, meals, or companionship, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester provides a “home-away-from-home” to families while their children receive the medical care they need.

Festival attendees will be invited to make a cash or mobile donation and spin the wheel for prizes at The Summit’s booth. All donations collected will go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester. Additionally, $1 from the sale of each bottle of wine at the festival will go to that organization.

“This festival celebrates the craft beverage and food industry, and The Summit is so excited to once again be the title sponsor,” said Twanda Christensen, Vice President of Marketing and Community Engagement for The Summit Federal Credit Union. “It also allows us to highlight the vital work of the Ronald McDonald House here in Rochester and the families for whom it is a lifeline.”

“If you think steel is strong, you should meet the families in our care,” commented JoAnne Ryan, President and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester. “Thanks to the generosity and kindness of our community and corporate partners such as The Summit Federal Credit Union, we lift our families during their most challenging times so they can find the most inspiring strength from within.”

The Summit's Rochester branches and website will offer an opportunity to win a pair of passes to one of the festival's sessions. Details about the contest, which runs from January 16 to February 7, can be found at www.summitfcu.org.  Winners will be announced on February 10.

Tickets to the festival, which are $35 ($20 for designated driver tickets) + $2.50 fee, are on sale now at wineandchocolatefestivals.com/events/Rochester/
